Our farm is situated on the slopes of the sweet hills of Poggio Berni and is dominated by Palazzo Marcosanti, an ancient medieval castle which was fortified by the Malatesta family in the 13° century, settled by the most important Italian noble families (Della Rovere, Doria, Medici) and then acquired by the Marcosantis, an aristocratic family from Sogliano sul Rubicone, in the nineteenth century.
Just in the heart of the territory where the river Uso passes by the Church of Camerano, ancient toponymic papers display a complex of houses dominated by the so-called "Villa", an ancient building which has been inhabited by Pompeo Marcosanti since the mid-nineteenth century. Since then, that "small village" has been known as ''Case Marcosanti" and the villa is still inhabited by the descendants of the Marcosantis: in 1948 Chiarina Marcosanti got married with Tino Antoniacci, who together with his children Luigi and Paola has kept on producing traditional wines from Romagna while developing considerable expertise in other agricultural branches.
This familiar passion aims at safeguarding the wine-growing and producing tradition of the surrounding area.
Well-kept vines surround both the villa and its cellar and include those belonging to the most authentic tradition of Romagna: Sangiovese and Trebbiano romagnolo.
Wine producers take great care over grape quality and grow vines in the best possible way, while respecting the environment and the health of both workers and consumers.
In the wake of recent discoveries, wine growers have tried to optimize the traditional way of producing wine: they employ well-kept wooden fermenting vats, proper barrels for red wines and steel tanks for white wines.
Case Marcosanti wines are obtained from the grapes which are grown in the hills of Poggio Berni (RN), in the Antoniacci Tino-Luigi-Paola S S. Farm (via Chiesa di Camerano, 369, fraz Camerano-Poggio Berni, prov. Rimini), Headquarters: Via Togliatti,7-47822 Santarcangelo di Romagna (R l).
Peculiar vine characteristics and environmental conditions make it possible to obtain strong wines which resemble people from Romagna.
The fermentation of red wines occurs inside wooden vats, in compliance with the most authentic tradition from Romagna. White wines are not obtained from grape pressing but by means of an ancient ritual: after wine pressing, grapes are put inside steel tanks together with the necessary yeasts. As soon as marc comes to the surface, it is removed and only must keeps on fermenting.
Only selected yeasts are used not to adulterate wines, which still retain their original genuineness and representativeness.
